Look at what some good games can do to the fortunes of a team like Boston Celtics. Here is a team that with its firepower should have been leading the charts. As is, they seem to be struggling to be afloat. These statements really seem to be an exaggeration, at least when you look at the record of the Boston Celtics this season. Now is the time that they pull up their socks, if they really wish to make it count. In terms of their Win-Loss record, they have not done as poorly as the numbers seem to suggest. 20 wins out of 22 matches should do any team proud.

But the Celtics are looking to do some big things here. First, it would allow them to beat a record that has stood for about 46 years now. With a victory in Washington, the Celtics would notch up 21 victories in 23 matches, thus enabling them to set a new record. The only concern for the Celtics' players is that of a burnout.

A lot of sports analysts feel that continuous games could just drain out the Celtics. Head coach, Doc Rivers does not believe in this theory. He feels that the team is doing normal things during the course of the game. It is only these normal things they do that have fetched them victories by the bucket.

Victories against Denver, Milwaukee and Indiana were really close affairs, with the games poised evenly until the final few minutes of each game. Of course, the Celtics put the games across their opponents, but are they leaving it too late? Coach Rivers feels that this is an area of improvement for his team. The average margin of difference for the Celtics is 13 points. Considering the performance of some top teams in the Celtics' league, this is a far cry.

Rivers does not feel it is complacency. Rivers feels that it is his players' belief that they could overcome the pressure at all odds, which gets the games so close. In process, his players have become well-oiled units, almost fighter-like ready to stave off any attacks on their citadel. With a good defense, solid at times when it matters the most, and an offensive line that does not need an excuse to move ahead, Rivers really should consider the game in Washington a walkthrough!

But, stranger things have happened on the field. Will the pressure of hitting bulls' eye get to the better of Celtics? Will the pressure of setting a new record really pull down the Celtics' game to a level that they end up losing? Looking at the strength of the Washington team and the fettle in which the Celtics are in, that looks unlikely. But then, stranger things have happened on the field.
