It all looked pretty bleak for the Kings after their last defeat. Many fingers were pointed at them for their lackadaisical effort in the last game. And really, the sentiment was brewing fast because the Kings had been clocking a 8-match losing streak. There just did not seem to be any end to the Kings' woes at all. Suddenly, what seemed to be an unlikely victory over the LA Lakers, one of the best teams in the league seems to have silenced all the critics for sure.
So what made the difference? A lot of people who watched the match say that the Kings played like never before. In fact, Kings' fans were taken aback by the aggressiveness shown by the team on field. It surely had got something to do with all the criticism heaped on the players for their string of losses. It just seemed that the Kings' players had enough of all the bad things that were being said about them, and when they stepped out on to the field, they were like men possessed. In a sense, one could say, their pride was hurt!
Whatever happened, happened for the best - This could be best fit for the Kings. By the time the final hooter blew, the score line read 113-101 in favor of the Kings. This score line is worth discussing for some more days to come. First, a difference of 12 points would suggest you two things - 1) The opposition team was weak and 2) The opposition team just did not play well enough. Second, the opposition was none other than LA Lakers that had Kobe Bryant in their ranks.
Definitely, the LA Lakers were no pushovers with that kind of players in their team. Obviously, there was something the Kings did to their game, which the Lakers found too hot to handle. As Theus puts it, "After the loss to Nuggets by a huge margin, everyone in the team felt enough is enough. They seemed to have enough being beaten. It was this that triggered a series of productive ideas from players on how they should be approaching their game."
Sounds like a valid logic to explain the sudden peak in the performance of the Kings. But I guess, one of the main reasons for that is the string of losses did bring the Kings' team together. Thus, when they walked out against the Lakers, they had all natural ingredients to overcome any tough problem posed to them - Dedication, One-upmanship and the will to win!
