A person’s face is the first thing people notice most of the time. The appearance of one’s face is worth a thousand words. From how your face looks, one can tell a person’s mood, disposition and somehow a hint of his personality.
The face, however, does not stay young and firm forever. Depending on one’s skin type, it gets wrinkles and blemishes as it ages. Lucky for those born with a smooth silky skin, they don’t have to deal so much with breakouts and other skin problems. Unfortunately, for those with oily skin and other skin types prone to pimples and spots, they need to do their best to combat the problem.

Numerous skincare products have been created and are now available on the market. This then calls for investing part of your savings to maintain one’s beauty. The problem is which one of them really works for you. Skin types vary and chances are when opting for these miracle products, one needs to use not just a single product but several of them to get their maximum benefits.

Apart from religiously using these skincare products, people especially those who can well afford have an option to undergo a facelift. They can either go under the knife for the traditional facelift procedure or opt for the latest non-invasive and laser treatment.

A facelift surgery normally results in some swelling, bruising and some discomfort and the recovery period may take some time. With a non-invasive procedure, however, the recovery period and side effects are reduced. Non-invasive procedures for the reduction of wrinkles include Botox injections, thermage and laser treatments such as full surgical rhinoplasty.

Thermage – This is a procedure that requires no incisions and therefore, has no risk of scarring. First developed in 1995, this FDA-approved technology makes use of high frequency radio waves in tightening the skin via the collagen. Unlike laser treatments that treat only the surface, this technique goes under the skin targeting the collagen.

Lasabrasion – This is a laser resurfacing treatment for wrinkles acne scars also known as laser peel or laser surgery. This procedure involves the vaporizing of damaged skin cells and allowing the collagen left to grow thicker and healthier. As a result, wrinkles and acne scars become less visible to the naked eye. Lasers used can be CO2, Erbium or N-Lite.

Botox injection – Originally, this treatment was approved by the FDA in 1990 for problems with eye muscle spasms. A positive side effect, however, was also noticed immediately that reduced the appearance of crow’s feet around the eyes. Today, botox injection is one of the most sought-after cosmetic medical procedures in the U.S. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) revealed nearly 800,000 Americans were treated with botox for their wrinkles in 2000 alone.

Facelift is just one of the many cosmetic procedures a person can undergo to enhance his or her physical appearance. The others include breast augmentation, liposuction and abdominoplasty.
